Airfreight peak on the way?

[ November 28, 2014   //   ]

Just over half of respondents questioned for the November Stifel Logistics Confidence Index – published by consultants Transport Intelligence – said they expected an airfreight peak for fourth quarter of this year. Some 36% indicated no peak for airfreight and 12% were unsure.

Of those that expecting a peak season for airfreight, 51% expect it to last 3-4 weeks and 25% expect it last longer than four weeks.

Overall, the freight index increased only 0.1 points to 59.0 and while, compared to November 2013, the overall index is up 1.9 points it is down from the October year-over-year increase of 3.8 points as noted in last month’s analysis.  This may be an indication of an economic slowdown but could simply be due to the time of year, Ti suggests.
