Amber light for Herts rail terminal

[ December 22, 2012   //   ]
Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government Eric Pickles has given the go-ahead for an intermodal rail freight terminal at Radlett near St Albans. However, local MP Anne Main suggested that a legal challenge to the controversial plan might still be possible. The news was however welcomed by Freight on Rail, whose manager, Philippa Edmunds, described the judgment, as “the first major test of the Strategic Rail Freight Interchange policy and therefore sets an important precedent, especially in the context of the South East and London, where it has previously been difficult to secure planning permission for large intermodal interchanges.”
