French giant buys Fiege Italy and Iberia operations

Norbert Dentressangle has acquired pan-European and Asian contract logistics company Fiege’s operations in Italy, Spain and Portugal. The French-owner operator said the move would make it the fourth largest player in the Italian logistics market and double the size of its current operations there. Norbert Dentressangle will acquire Fiege Borruso and FLI spa (Pharma) Italian operations. Fiege will retain some logistics and air freight contracts in Italy.

With a workforce of 510 people, Fiege’s Italian operations generated 2012 revenues of €95 million with 11 sites totalling 264,000sq m of warehousing. With the new acquisition, Norbert Dentressangle’s Italian logistics operations will have a total turnover of €220m and employ 1,200 people.

The purchase of Fiege Iberia and Fiege Iberia Operador’s Spanish and Portuguese operations -will generate combined turnover of €450m, offering 458,000sq m of ambient warehousing, 1,800 vehicles and employing 1,700 people.

CEO of Norbert Dentressangle, Hervé Montjotin, described Italy and Iberia as “crucial geographical components of Norbert Dentressangle’s pan-European network.”
