New rail service links London with Duisburg – and beyond

[ April 11, 2018   //   ]

GB Railfreight and Transfesa have launched a new Channel Tunnel rail service between London Gateway and Duisburg, Germany, on behalf of CMA CGM Logistics. The inaugural train left London Gateway rail terminal on 10 April.

The new service will offer onward connections to other destinations, including Poland and China. Initially, it will operate one eturn trip per week but has the potential to reach six return services per week in the future.

Eurotunnel welcomed the initiative, saying that it would help to reinvigorate rail freight through the Tunnel. The Tunnel operator had for its part installed a whole-train scanner in Frethun, introduced the ETICA scheme to support the launch of new services and improved border formalities at Frethun yard.
