Seatruck – making Progress

[ August 25, 2011   //   ]

The first of four sisterships ordered by Clipper Group–owned Irish Sea operator Seatruck Ferries, the Seatruck Progress, was named and launched on 19 August at FSG Flensburg shipyard.

The vessels will be delivered to Seatruck between November and June 2012 and are intended primarily for service on the Irish Sea. The design takes account of the often difficult conditions and have sea-holding characteristics well in excess of the normal demands of the class, says Seatruck.

At 142 metres long and 45m wide, they offer a freight capacity of 2,166 lane metres or up to 151 trailers. They will be the biggest ships to operate out of the port of Heysham. They also meet the most rigorous emission and fuel consumption standards.

With the new vessels bring the Seatruck Ferries fleet to 12, mainly on its own services on the Irish Sea.
