Swansea port has wind in its sails

ABP Swansea is handling material for the Brechfa Forest Wind Farm project, A 28 turbine scheme being developed by Innogy in Carmarthenshire.

Components for have already started arriving by sea in the port, which has extensive experience in handling project cargo and can accommodate vessels of up to 30,000 dwt. Between 2015 and 2016, Swansea handled over 650 components for the 76-turbine Pen y Cymoedd Wind Energy Project in the South Wales Valleys, the largest onshore wind farm in Wales.
Brechfa, due to be completed in 2018, will generate enough power to meet the needs of over 38,000 UK households every year.
