Turkey joins the e-CMR club

[ February 6, 2018   //   ]

Turkey is now using digital consignment notes, following its accession to the e-CMR protocol.
It follows last year’s pilot of digital TIR operations between Turkey and Iran which, says the International Road Transport Union (IRU) marks a significant step forward for the wider global adoption of digital transport and logistics systems – including for customs transit.
Neighbouring Greece launched a national pilot operation in 2017 and Romania has recently stepped up momentum towards accession, while Bulgaria – which has already acceded to the additional protocol – hopes to operationalise e-CMR soon. Iran’s accession was announced last November, and the Russian and Moldovan governments have recently passed decrees on joining e-CMR.
