Airship promoters set up European study

[ October 27, 2014   //   ]

US-based Aeroscraft – which plans to launch a cargo-carrying variable buoyancy airship – has signed a memorandum of understanding for an independent study to analyse the fields of application for the new craft in cargo and logistics in and around the European Union. The study will also examine the impact on cargo and transport logistics, in and outside urban areas, operational limitations, operational security and safety, and operator requirements.
The Aeroscraft will be explored as a solution for niche and specialty oversized project cargo, as an ‘air bridge’ for dedicated custom clearance and as a mass freight transport concept e-commerce and package delivery. The study, which will be carried out by German-based LogisticNetwork Consultants, the Institute of Postfossil Logistics at the Bochum University of Applied Sciences and the AIBC network of commercial, regulatory, and logistics expertsis due to be completed in early 2016.
