A blast at the Iranian port of Shahid Rajaee port near Bandar Abbas was reported on 27 April to have killed at least 40 people, with more than 1,200 people injured according to state media. Firefighters were continuing to battle the fire although Iran's Red Crescent Society was reported as saying that the fire was 90% extinguished and port activities had in fact resumed in unaffected parts of the port.
