Tilbury signs another green transport deal

[ January 27, 2021   //   ]

London river, road and rail freight operator Walsh, has signed a 20-year agreement with the Port of Tilbury to move construction materials. Walsh will create two new freight hubs at the port – a logistics terminal with aggregates processing plant and a rail-linked freight facility.

It will import 400,000 tonnes a year of Cornish Granite, a by-product of the china clay industry, into Tilbury by sea and river from Imerys in Cornwall. The material is rated as one of the most sustainable aggregates available in the UK.

Walsh will move into 34 Berth at the Forth Ports owned site in March and will install a processing plant to wash and grade the aggregate for supply to customers across the South East.
