FIATA releases e-Bill of Lading data standard

[ March 10, 2022   //   ]

The International Federation of Freight-Forwarders Associations (FIATA) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) have released the electronic FIATA Multimodal Bill of Lading (eFBL) data standard. It allows the exchange of bill of lading data in a standardised way, facilitating interoperability between all modes of transport and industry stakeholders.

It is being offered as open source for all software providers and industry stakeholders to implement. FIATA expects its standard to become the main global standard for all house bills of lading.

Three other FIATA standard documents are in the process of being mapped with the UN and data standards are expected to be released by mid-2022 -: the non-negotiable FIATA multimodal transport waybill (FWB), the FIATA warehouse receipt (FWR) and the FIATA forwarders certificate of receipt (FCR).
