Apex acquisition brings brothers together
[ March 27, 2025 // Chris Lewis ]Carl Thompson, managing director of time-sensitive logistics company Apex Time Critical, is to acquire a 20% stake in customs specialist Instant Clearances, which is owned by his brother, Rhys Thompson.
Instant Clearances specialises in submitting import and export declarations between the UK and EU. It will continue to operate independently, focusing on providing competitive, transparent pricing and hassle-free services to businesses of all sizes.
Carl Thompson said: “What Rhys has built with Instant Clearances is impressive. His understanding of the customs landscape and commitment to immediate response times fills a critical gap in the market. As someone who deals with time-sensitive logistics daily, I recognise the value of what he’s created.”
Rhys Thompson commented: “Having Carl’s support and investment is a significant vote of confidence in our approach. While we’ll continue to operate as separate businesses, there’s a natural synergy in our understanding of what matters to clients – speed, reliability, and removing obstacles.”
Carl Thompson added: “There’s always been a bit of friendly rivalry between us, but we share the same values when it comes to business – putting the client first and delivering on promises. It’s great to support what Rhys is building, even if we still debate who’s the better golfer.”
