The world’s largest car carrier, Anji Ansheng, operated by China’s state-owned SAIC Motors logistics arm, made its maiden voyage to Bristol Port in late June. At 228 metres long and 37.8 metres wide, this ship has just claimed the global record with a capacity for 9,500 cars.
The ship set sail from China on 13 May. Bristol harbour master, Stephen Birt, presented the captain with a plaque.
Every year, Bristol Port handles over 700,000 import and export vehicles and, with over 600 acres of dedicated storage and purpose-built facilities for vehicle handling, some of the biggest names in the automotive world choose it as their gateway.
