CMA CGM to buy LNG ships from India

CMA CGM Group has signed a letter of intent for six LNG-powered 1,700teu containerships to be built at Cochin Shipyard Limited, India. The project will be run with the technical cooperation of Korean shipbuilder HD Hyundai Heavy Industries. All six vessels will be registered under the Indian flag and CMA CGM will also reflag four other vessels under the Indian registry in 2025. it aims to recruit 1,000 Indian seafarers by the end of the year and hire an additional 500 Indian seafarers in 2026.
