New service links UAE with Somaliland

DP World has partnered with Sumit Shipping to launch a regular container service between Jebel Ali Port in the UAE and Berbera Port in Somaliland. It operates every nine days with scheduled stops at Aden and Djibouti. From Berbera, cargo can connect onwards to inland destinations such as Ethiopia, providing an alternative to Djibouti or overland trucking. Berbera port has 1,050 metres of quay including a 400-metre quay capable of handling Triple E vessels, bulk and breakbulk handling facilities, and an annual livestock handling capacity of around 4 million heads. The city is also home to the Berbera Special Economic Zone.
