LeShuttle Freight keeps drivers connected as Folkestone Services wins parking mark

[ October 22, 2025   //   ]

LeShuttle Freight has developed a Freight Driver Companion App as part of its Driver Week starting on 22 October.

It will allow the tunnel operator to connect and engage with drivers before they enter the facilities, providing bespoke and convenient information, including customised live travel and shuttle status updates, alongside other useful data.

An evolution of the previous Driver Info platform, LeShuttle Freight Driver also allows drivers to access features such as Play and Win competitions, as well as information about duty free offers, and regular updates on events taking place at LeShuttle Freight Village and the terminals.

Driver Week included a strong focus on preventative health and physical activity from free health checks to a ‘blend your own’ smoothie bike. The always-popular LeShuttle Freight teddy bears were also be given away as an extra treat.

LeShuttle freight product and customer engagement director, Aude Bourdel, commented: “From our ongoing investment in providing a convenient, safe, and secure service and stop-off point, we are committed in our pledge to continue to invest in and improve the wellbeing and comfort of drivers wherever possible. Our gold ESPORG accreditation, awarded earlier this year, gives reassurance that LeShuttle Freight Village is a safe and secure space for drivers to stop and rest on their journeys. “However, we want to provide more than just a place to stop, which is why moments like Driver Week are so important. The feedback in previous years has been excellent, which is why we have made the decision to extend it to a fully week. Not just a celebration of drivers, but a perfect example of how we strive to invest in supporting their mental and physical health.”

LeShuttle Freight Village, off the A16 motorway in Coquelles, is a purpose-built truck park and environment for freight drivers, designed to support their comfort, wellbeing, and daily needs. It has over 309 spaces and on-site facilities which include freshly prepared food, free hot drinks in the dedicated lounge, showers, laundry services, Wi-Fi, and a rolling calendar of live events.

It was awarded gold certification by the ESPORG European security award.

Meanwhile, Getlink Customs Services has gained a Park Mark Freight award for its Folkestone Services Truck Park.

Park Mark Freight is a new assessment managed by Police Crime Prevention Initiatives and the British Parking and its extension to truck stops and lorry parks meets a growing demand for efficient, well-managed facilities to combat vehicle and cargo crime.

Park Mark is primarily aimed at the prevention of criminal behaviour within the parking environment and requires owners/operators to adopt an active management strategy to minimise such events. The main Safer Parking Scheme Assessment Guidelines do not explicitly cover this type of business.

To be granted Park Mark Freight, a parking facility must demonstrate a wide range of responsibilities, which include low crime levels, measures to enhance safety of people and vehicles and good management and operations. Facilities are assessed every year to ensure standards are maintained.

Getlink Customs Services said “We’re delighted to have received the Freight Park Mark Award, which reaffirms our ongoing commitment to providing safe, secure, and high-quality parking facilities for HGV drivers. This recognition highlights our dedication to supporting the haulage community by ensuring drivers have access to well-managed, comfortable, and trusted rest locations that meet the highest industry standards.”

BPA Area Manager for the Southeast, Naomi Parsons,  added: “Chris and his team run a superb facility and go the extra mile to provide everything their customers need to ensure they are happy and refreshed when continuing with their journey. Throughout the accreditation process, Chris’s team continually demonstrated their commitment to providing a safe environment for users.”
