Port of Tyne has best year in a decade
[ June 16, 2026 // Chris Lewis ]The Port of Tyne says it has recorded its strongest financial results in a decade, with revenue increasing by 5% to £70 million, earnings rising by 11% to £18.6 million and adjusted profit before tax growing by 48% to £6.5 million in 2025. It said the results were driven by strong performance in automotive, bulk cargo and offshore wind.
The Port secured significant contract successes in offshore wind, supporting Ørsted’s Hornsea 3 marshalling operations with Cadeler. Future automotive volumes were bolstered through a renewed long-term partnership with VW Audi group.
Tyne has also signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish a North East Ports Partnership, expanded its 2050 Maritime Innovation Hub and Venture Connect programme and the North East Mayoral Strategic Authority and Hitachi have agreed to advance a clean e-fuels hub.
Port of Tyne chief executive Matt Beeton, said: that 2025 “was an impressive year and showed how the port has evolved from its coal-focused activities to continued success in new areas like offshore wind, green technology and automotive. Securing the Hornsea 3 contract further enhances our established position in the offshore wind market. The development pipeline has been recently expanded by the addition of the 6 GW North East development area.”
