CBAMable offers carbon tax platform

[ July 6, 2026   //   ]

CBAMable has launched a software platform to help customs brokers, freight forwarders and trade compliance providers prepare importer clients for the UK and EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism, due to come into force from 1 January 2027.

It gives brokers and forwarders a single workspace to identify relevant imports, request supplier emissions data, track evidence gaps and prepare client-ready reports, which can be delivered under the broker’s own brand as a ‘white-label’ service.

From January 2027, the UK CBAM will place a carbon price on imports of aluminium, cement, fertilisers, hydrogen, iron and steel. Affected importers will need to register with HMRC, evidence embedded emissions and keep records where they exceed the relevant threshold.

At the same time, the EU CBAM is now in its definitive phase, making the quality and source of emissions evidence increasingly important for businesses importing CBAM-covered goods into the EU.

Founder of CBAMable, Matthew Simpson, said: “The biggest mistake businesses can make with CBAM is treating it as a future problem. By the time the UK rules come into force, importers will already need a clear evidence trail behind the goods they are bringing in, and many will be looking to their broker or forwarder for guidance.”

CBAMable is an evidence preparation and reporting tool. It does not submit official CBAM declarations, replace HMRC or EU registry systems, or provide legal or tax advice.
