Amazon leader to head Peel Ports Scotland

Peel Ports Group has appointed former Amazon head Jamie Strain as its new port director in Scotland.

He will lead the port operator’s Peel Ports Clydeport business, overseeing its key Scottish sites, including the Hunterston PARC site in Ayrshire, KGV Dock in Glasgow, and the Port of Greenock, including nearby Inchgreen Marine Park.

Jamie Strain was Site lead general manager at one of the UK’s largest Amazon distribution centres in Dunfermline.

He replaces port director Jim McSporran, who is retiring from the role later this month.

Peel Ports Group chief operating officer David Huck said: “His experience and expertise make him a perfect fit for this role as we prepare to further grow the business here in Scotland. As well as he operational experience, he has a hugely important perspective to share as a cargo owner at two of the country’s biggest and best-known retailers.

“I’d like to thank Jim for his incredible efforts since he joined the business in 2020 – he has been an excellent leader and colleague, and he leaves with all our thanks.”
