Kuehne+Nagel teams up with energy tech firm CATL

Kuehne+Nagel is to collaborate in battery logistics with energy technology company Contemporary Amperex Technology Ltd (CATL), including transport electrification and emissions reduction initiatives.

The partnership will initially focus on initiatives including the electrification of CATL transport flows in Europe and a battery-swapping pilot (provided by Qiji) for heavy-duty trucks, set to launch in China this year. It also includes battery recycling and aftersales support, energy storage and charging solutions for logistics sites. The activities will support both companies’ Scope 3 emissions reductions.

KN says that use of electric vehicles and energy storage solutions is growing rapidly. In 2024, demand for EV batteries increased by more than 75%, while battery manufacturing capacity continues to expand through a growing network of gigafactories worldwide.
