Customs management software specialist the Conex Group has opened a presence in Germany as part of the next phase of its European development.

Conex GmbH, based in Saarbrücken near the French border, has a local team dedicated to the German-speaking market, with in-depth knowledge of its customs requirements.

The company says that by establishing a presence at the heart of Europe’s largest economy, the French-founded European software publisher will capitalise on its expertise in customs procedures, experience in working with international customers and multi-country software. Conex is also deploying its AI agents in this market, automating tariff classification and extraction of data from commercial and logistics documents for customs formalities.

Conex adds that the creation of Conex GmbH comes at a time of transformation in the European customs market. Reforms initiated by the European Union and the growing digitalisation of procedures are opening up new opportunities for solutions that can support companies across several markets simultaneously, it says.

Group president, Bertrand Gruson, explained: “Germany is one of the European Union’s leading import and export economies. With Conex GmbH, we aim to establish a strong presence in this dynamic market, working closely with businesses and their customs challenges. We offer them the benefit of our experience built over more than 40 years: solid industry expertise and technology that simplifies and secures the management of their flows, via a European hub where their customs operations in all the countries in which they operate converge.”

Conex says that two out of three import-export declarations in France are processed using its solutions and it also has subsidiaries in the UK, Ireland, Belgium and Denmark, together with operational and regulatory coverage in Spain, the Netherlands, Sweden and Norway. With the addition of Germany, its solutions now cover ten European countries.
