ABP donation helps keep sea cadets sailing
[ December 9, 2025 // Chris Lewis ]Associated British Ports (ABP) Southampton has donated £2,000 to Southampton Sea Cadets as part of its commitment to supporting local youth and maritime organisations.
The donation will help the Sea Cadets continue to provide young people with opportunities to learn new skills, build confidence, and gain hands-on experience in a maritime environment. The organisation plays a key role in inspiring the next generation of seafarers and fostering a strong connection with the sea.
Southampton Harbour Master, Steve Masters, said: “Their work not only nurtures future talent but also strengthens the community’s link to the maritime industry, which is at the heart of Southampton’s identity.”
The Southampton Sea Cadets offer a range of activities, from sailing and rowing to engineering and leadership training, helping young people develop practical skills and life experiences that will benefit them for years to come.
Chair of Southampton Sea Cadets Catherine Tipper, added: ” We are fortunate to have the ongoing and invaluable support of ABP, which helps our cadets gain essential skills, qualifications, and experiences to give them a real head start in life, they have fun, gain confidence and make friends. Thank you again, your donation makes a big difference to the work we can do”.
