Acid leak at port of Hull

[ September 19, 2017   //   ]

Fifty firefighters have dealt with a major acid tank leak at ABP Hull’s King George Dock, the BBC reports.

According to the report, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service said the tank contained 580 tonnes of hydrochloric acid.

The leak was on the east side of the dock, away from homes but people in the area were advised to close windows and doors.

The fire service tweeted the leak had been contained at 04.20.

A spokesperson could not say how much acid had leaked, but was liaising with the Environment Agency to assess its impact.
