AE1 drops Felixstowe call

[ December 16, 2021   //   ]

The 2M alliance – Maersk Line and MSC – has removed the Felixstowe call from its AE1 service from the Far East to North Europe, along with the call in Shanghai. The operator said it would improve schedule reliability and was part of a general move to reduce the number of North European port calls. It has retained the Felixstowe call on its AE55 service and has dropped the double call in Rotterdam and the call in Antwerp, but has added Le Havre. The service loads in  Shanghai , Ningbo and Tanjung Pelepas before heading for Felixstowe.

The Port of Felixstowe said: “We welcome the changes to schedules announced today by the 2M Alliance. The change is driven, in part, by strong demand for goods into the UK and the Port of Felixstowe with volumes over 10% up on last year. There are no landside delays at Felixstowe and combining both services into a single call will provide a faster, more efficient and more reliable service for shippers.”
