Airfield could handle Cairnryan overflow

[ December 16, 2020   //   ]

Transport Scotland says it is in talks to turn Castle Kennedy Airfield into an emergency lorry park in case of delays at Cairnryan port, according to a report by PA Media.

The agency has an agreement in principle with Stair Estates to use the general aviation airport for overflow parking if there are delays on ferry routes to Northern Ireland after the end of Brexit transition on 1 January.

However, a Transport Scotland spokeswoman added that a significant increase in delays was not expected at this stage.
