Another strike at UPS

[ December 13, 2013   //   ]

Staff at UPS Parcels’ Camden, Northl London depot staged another strike today ( Friday, 20 December) – in a dispute over workloads and alleged bullying.

It follows the sacking of a Unite shop steward. The Unite Union said: “The steward was sacked after his van was broken into and the company claimed it no longer had trust and confidence in him. However, after the robbery, UPS did not suspend him – instead it allowed him to carry on with his normal duties, so we can only conclude that his sacking was solely due to the fact that he had the courage to stand up to a pervasive bullying culture.”
Unite warned that if UPS does not reach a settlement, this dispute could spread to other UPS depots across the country. Members at other London depots have already voted in favour of action in a consultative ballot.
