Arvato opens Spanish site

German owned logistics company Arvato is continuing to expand its business in Spain by opening the first two units of a new distribution centre totaling around 142,000 square meters in Illescas, south of Madrid.

The new site is one of the largest in Bertelsmann –owned Arvato’s global network and confirmation of the company’s  growth in e-commerce and customers from industries such as fashion, lifestyle, beauty or luxury, said, managing director of Arvato in Spain, Emilio Juaranz.

After the imminent handover of the third and final section, Arvato will have around 135,000sq m of hall space and 7,000sq m of office space in Illescas.

The DC in the Los Pradillos II industrial zone was developed by one of the leading developers and asset managers of logistics real estate in Spain. It has 123 dock levellers for the storage and retrieval of goods and the entie complex covers a total of around 240,000sq m.

With rapid access to the A-42 freeway linking Madrid with Toled, it meets requirements for rapid distribution of on-line orders.
