Back to Zambia for driver trainer

[ July 9, 2012   //   ]

Norbert Dentressangle driver trainer Jason Thornton has visited Zambia for a second time to help deliver new and refresher training to Zambian and Tanzanian instructors as part of transport charity, Transaid’s Professional Driver Training Project. A shift leader at Norbert Dentressangle’s site in Rugby and registered Association of Industrial Truck Trainers FLT instructor, he spent a week at Transaid’s partner organisation, the Industrial Training Centre in Lusaka, Zambia in January 2010, providing theoretical and practical training on safe FLT operating practices to six trainers.

During his return visit in June 2012, Jason delivered refresher courses to some of his original trainees, as well as training for new instructors, one of whom travelled from the National Institute of Transport in Tanzania, where Transaid is also working, to take part in the programme.

To date, the project in Zambia has trained a pool of six driver trainers and over 2,000 drivers in the last two years, helping to save more lives through focusing on professional driver training and safety.

Norbert Dentressangle was amongst a number of companies honoured at the recent Motor Transport Awards for its substantial contribution to the Transaid Professional Driver Training Project.
