Best-ever year for East Midlands airport

East Midlands Airport had its best year for cargo in its 49-year history in 2014, with 308,935 tonnes of flown cargo was handled, up 3.6% on 2013. It also beat the previous all-time best calendar year by nearly 2,000 tonnes, in 2010. The airport is the main UK hub for DHL, UPS & TNT who offer regular direct connections to the US as well as numerous points in Europe, Ireland and the UK. East Midlands Airport is also the UK’s busiest airport for flown mail, and is the UK hub for Royal Mail, handling over 2 million 1st class items a night and and also for ad-hoc charters with over 200 flights handled.
