Olympic rower, adventurer and TV sports present James Cracknell will now host the BIFA Freight Services Awards at the association’s annual dinner in London on 16 January.
The event was originally due to be MasterChef presenter Gregg Wallace.
Mr Wallace has stepped away from his role on MasterChef, and also the Inside the Factory programme, while an investigation takes place into a number of allegations of inappropriate conduct over the past 17 years.
James Cracknell and his team in the men’s coxless fours won the World Rowing Championships in 1997, 1998 and 1999 and the gold medal at the 2000 Olympics and again in the 2004 Olympics.
Together with fellow TV presenter Ben Fogle, he also took part in the Atlantic Rowing Race, before retiring from competitive rowing in 2006.
Since then, he has presented sport on ITV, Channel 4 and BBC including the Oxford-Cambridge Boat Race, the British Superbike Championship and is also a columnist for The Daily Telegraph.
