The guest speaker and host for the British International Freight Association’s – www.bifa.org – Freight Services Awards 2012 luncheon ceremony will be former Olympian, Derek Redmond. The former sprinter won gold medals at World, European and Commonwealth levels in the mid-1980s will take the podium at the Awards luncheon to be held in London on Thursday 17th January 2013. In 1986, he was Commonwealth and European Champion in the 4 x 400 m relay team and he became a World Gold Medallist in the 4 x 400 m relay team in 1991.
Derek will entertain guests with an after-lunch speech and present Award finalists with their certificates, and the nine deserved winners with their trophies.

This year’s host is again being sponsored by global logistics company, SDV.

Peter Quantrill, BIFA Director General, said: “Summer 2012 will always remain the Olympic summer for Team GB and Paralympics GB. We approached Derek as a perfect champion of the Olympic spirit and a speaker who will be able to share with our Members his memories and pride in competing at the highest levels.
