Biggest ship yet for Southampton

[ November 7, 2017   //   ]

ABP Southampton will handle its largest container ship yet today (Tuesday 7 November), the 20,568teu Milan Maersk. She will top the 20,170teu of the  OL Triumph and MOL Trust that visited earlier this year.

The Milan Maersk is one of 11 second generation Triple-E class vessels due to be delivered by the end of 2018.

ABP Southampton director, Alastair Welch said: “Milan Maersk is just the latest of these new megaships to visit the Port of Southampton. Not only are these vessels bigger – they are much cleaner too and we are seeing more of these new generation ships visiting across the port’s key trades.

“The Port of Southampton is ideally suited to welcome these megaships.”
