Brits welcome French rail fine

[ December 19, 2012   //   ]

Britain’s Rail Freight Group has welcomed the decision of the French Competition Authority on 18 December to fine SNCF € 60.9 million for preventing or delaying the entry of new operators into the rail freight market. RFG chairman Tony Berkeley said: “For UK operators and customers wanting to run more trains to and from the continent through the Channel Tunnel, this judgement should ensure better competition in France, better reliability and competitive pricing in France. We urge the French Competition authority to ensure that the necessary changes are implemented without delay.”
