Brussels probes Post sell-off

The European Commission has opened an investigation into UK government plans to restructure the Royal Mail, including plans to relieve it of its pension deficit and strengthen its balance sheet. The Commission said it had doubts that the plan included adequate measures to reduce distortion of competition and that the plans comply with EU Guidelines on state aid for rescuing and restructuring firms in difficulty.
