Land and sea effort gets transformer to Hull

[ December 5, 2025   //   ]

Staffordshire-based specialist shipping company Robert Wynn & Sons has delivered a transformer to Statkraft’s Thornton Greener Grid Park Project in Hull, in partnership with Collett & Sons.

The operation began at Portland Port, where Wynns’ heavy lift ro/ro barge Terra Marique loaded a 24-axle girder frame trailer of 140 tonnes. The vessel then proceeded to the RHB Terminal in Rotterdam, where a 215-tonne transformer was

lifted on board before a passage to ABP Port of Hull’s Albert Dock where the 350-tonne cargo was rolled off for transport to site by Collett.

Albert Dock was used because of road route restrictions, requiring a bespoke offloading arrangement using the Terra Marique.

Specific load-spreading configurations were developed to ensure that weaker sections of the quay behind the quay wall were not overloaded.
