Calais crisis ‘could spread to other ports’

[ August 21, 2015   //   ]

The migrant crisis could shift from Calais to other ports, Home Secretary Theresa May warned while on a visit to the area on 20 August.
According to the BBC, she said she was “well aware of the possibility of displacement” of the issues at Calais, and was considering beefing up security at other ports, such as Dunkirk, adding that ministers were also in talks with Belgium and the Netherlands about security at their ports.

The UK and France have recently signed a deal to improve security at Calais port and the Channel Tunnel.
