Cameras boost Doyle Shipping safety
[ February 5, 2025 // Chris Lewis ]Dublin port service, logistics and renewable energy specialist Doyle Shipping Group has fitted an advanced multi-camera system to its fleet of 14 rubber-tyred gantry crane to improve safety.
The system, from Camera Telematics has been initially fitted on 44 terminal tractors, as well as 16-tonne forklifts and reach stackers, operating at the port and have contributed to a 35% reduction in serious incidents in the past two years.
The rubber-tyred gantry (RTG) cranes have been installed with Camera Telematics’ iC360 solution, which has been adapted to meet unique requirements of container handling. This includes four cameras that cover the different views and angles needed to provide 360-degree visibility, with an in-cab monitor to give the operator a complete view around the crane equipment. The camera solution is used alongside other digital safety tools including a RTG laser-based collision prevention system.
Safety, health, environment and quality manager at Doyle Shipping Group, Kieron Moore, said: “The camera system forms a crucial part of our strategy to develop the most advanced terminal in Ireland, using the latest digital aids to improve port safety and safeguard everyone working onsite. Working closely with Camera Telematics, we have implemented and expanded a highly effective camera solution that is playing a crucial role in reducing collisions, investigating incidents and enhancing duty of care.
