Cargo revenue cheers up Emirates

[ June 15, 2021   //   ]

Cargo revenue was a bright star in an otherwise gloomy sky for the Emirates Group, which recorded its first loss in over 30 years in its 2020-21 results published on 15 June. While the group as whole racked up a AED 22.1 billion (US$ 6.0 billion) loss due entirely to the effect of the Covid pandemic, cargo revenue soared by 53% to AED 17.1 billion (US$ 4.7 billion). This was despite a 22% fall in cargo tonnage, as yields surged by 88% due to reduce global capacity.
