CargoBeamer launches Italy-Belgium route
[ January 13, 2026 // Chris Lewis ]Rail semi-trailer carrier CargoBeamer has launched a rnew route between Liège in Belgium and Domodossola, Italy. Initially operating three roundtrips per week, the service is scheduled to increase to six per week in the second quarter of 2026 and will be extended further into northern Italy at the same time. With the opening of Liège–Domodossola, CargoBeamer will take over part of the volume previously transported on the Rolling Highway service between Germany and Italy, which closed in late 2025.
The new route also marks CargoBeamer’s entry into the Belgian market. The service can carry all craneable and non-craneable semi-trailers, refrigerated trailers, ADR and tank units, containers, swap bodies, and specialized equipment. In Belgium, operations are handled at the Liège Logistics Intermodal Terminal and in Domodossola at the DB Cargo Transa / FLS Terminal.
With the Rolling Highway service between Germany and Italy having ceased in late 2025, capacity for transporting non-craneable trailers across the Alps is under pressure. CargoBeamer’s new service will absorb part of these former volumes, shifting them to non-accompanied transport.
