CargoBeamer to run daily between south of France and Calais

[ May 27, 2026   //   ]

Rail -road intermodal firm CargoBeamer is increasing the frequency of its Calais – Perpignan service from four to six weekly round trips. A fifth trip was added in April 2026, with a sixth to follow in June.

It now offers daily departures in both directions from Monday to Saturday, making it one of the most frequent services for semi-trailers on the north–south corridor.

The service operates between the CargoBeamer-Terminal in Calais and the Perpignan Saint Charles Conteneur Terminal, with a transit time of around 28 hours. The service can be used by craneable and non-craneable semi-trailers, refrigerated trailers, ADR and tank units and containers. It reduces CO₂ emissions by around 93%, equivalent to more than 1,100 kg of CO₂ compared to diesel road transport.

From Calais, road operators can extend their journey to the UK via the Eurotunnel or maritime connections, or by road to northern France and Belgium. At the southern end, the Perpignan terminal is close to the Spanish border including the Barcelona region.

The CargoBeamer system uses patented wagons and transshipment terminals to allow rail transport of semi-trailers without lifting. CargoBeamer operates trains across Germany, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Romania with terminals linked by regular, frequent  trains.
