[ March 15, 2023   //   ]

Multimodal logistics company Cargobeamer is to offer a first and last-mile road service for semi-trailers to and from the terminals in its network from the second quarter of 2023. It says the integrated drayage solution will make intermodal more accessible for existing and new customers and allow transport companies to tackle the shortage of truck drivers by optimizing their utilization. The drayage service will be offered in northern Italy, western Germany and Benelux, northern and southern France and northeastern Spain, large parts of the UK and Ireland. It will connect all terminals in the network of CargoBeamer to third-party locations, warehouses, and ro ro ports.

Test trials have already been completed on the Kaldenkirchen-Domodossola route, where the transport of semi-trailers in both directions was extended by road to the port of Genoa. Bookings of the new service can be made though an the integrated eLogistics system.

CargoBeamer’s technology allows non-craneable semi-to be carried by rail, using patented wagons and transhipment terminals, including in the port of Calais.
