CCS-UK to run Heathrow slot system
[ June 5, 2025 // Chris Lewis ]BT’s CCS-UK arm has been selected as the provider for the Heathrow Cargo truck slot booking system, Andy Cooke from BIFA’s policy and compliance team told an episode of BIFALink TV on 5 June. The slot system is an integral part of plans by Heathrow Airport Ltd to rebuild and reconfigure the entire airport cargo area.
Cooke said that HAL is moving ahead with its plans to redevelop the ‘Horseshoe Road’ area (Shoreham Road and Sandringham Road) area into a new Cargo West and a possible Cargo East area, fed by a remote truck parking area. The operation would be backed by a sophisticated IT system to ensure that vehicles would access the area only when called forward without clogging the cargo area.
He added that while plans to redevelop Heathrow had been talked about for years, the scheme was now taking on an air of reality.
Earlier, BIFA has launched a cargo community advisory body to undertake much activity previously covered by the CCSUK User Group. CCS-UK operates the cargo community system at Heathrow.
