Chamber to tackle customs transport

[ April 18, 2013   //   ]

A new International Chamber of Commerce Commission on Customs and Trade Facilitation pledged at its first meeting in Paris in mid-April that it would expand its work to include multi-modal transport and logistics issues, building on the work of the former ICC Committee on Customs and Trade Regulations. ICC secretary general, the appropriately-named Jean-Guy Carrier, said: “Determining procedures to facilitate trade by combining the expertise of specialists in customs and transport is a tremendous contribution to world trade and therefore to job creation.”

The commission will be chaired by Anthony Barone, director of global logistics policy at Pfizer, who said: “The objective of the new commission is to identify strategic issues that will have a material impact on trade. Ideally we would like to achieve significant modernization rather than incremental steps.”
