Chinese premier unveils Manchester-Beijing route

A new direct air service by Hainan Airlines between Manchester and Beijing was unveiled by no less a person than Chinese premier Xi Jinping on 23 October. Operated four times a week using an Airbus A330-200 from 10 June, it will make Manchester the only non-London UK airport to offer year-round services to mainland China, although Birmingham has had a summer charter programme to the Chinese capital over the past two years.
