Citrus exports keep Sokhna volume healthy

DP World Sokhna in Egypt handled 285,000 TEUs in the Q1 2025, the highest quarterly volume in nearly two decades of operating the port. The figure was 26% above planned volumes driven by refrigerated container exports as the country is now one of the world’s leading citrus exporters. Since taking over operations in 2008, DP World has invested more than $1.3 billion in the modernisation of Sokhna to handle some of the world’s largest cargo vessels.
