Click and collect sparks final mile innovation

[ February 21, 2014   //   ]

Click and collect purchases in the UK will be worth over four billion pounds by 2018, according to a report by Verdict, and a panel at Multimodal 2014 will be investigating the latest final mile delivery trends servicing those e-consumers.

On-line retail sales, already worth £11 billion in December, are now forecast by the IMRG Capgemini e-Retail Sales Index to grow to £107 billion this year, and logistics providers are having to find new, cost-effective solutions for both customer pick-up, and returns.

“The retail landscape is being revolutionised by on-line shopping, and that means finding new delivery channels,” said Robert Jervis, Multimodal 2014 Director.

“Final mile delivery and slick returns procedures are the new differentiators, and we will be bringing together some leading innovators to share their insight on how it is done.”

Mark Lawrence, Operations and Service Director of Collect+ and Stuart Millar, co-founder and CEO of ByBox will be two key speakers on the panel chaired by Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) Chief Executive Steve Agg, on Tuesday 29th April 2014, at the Birmingham NEC.

Carl Moore, Operations Director at Clipper will be tackling reverse logistics issues.

FBJ is publishing the official show guide for Multimodal and a ‘daily’ paper at the show.
