DB confirms Schenker stake sale

[ May 6, 2016   //   ]

The German railways (Deutsche Bahn) has confirmed that it will sell a stake in its DB Schenker forwarding and logistics arm, estimated by market experts at 40-45% of the business, valued at around €5bn.

On 5 May it said that it would develop an implementation plan for a third-party minority holding in DB Schenker, along with another in its DB Arriva public transport arm. A final decision on whether to go ahead with the sale is expected in the autumn.

The move would help pay off some of DB’s debt and allow for a planned investment programme in the German rail system.
