DB Schenker launches in Laos

DB Schenker has established its own legal entity in Laos and will now operate under the name of Schenker (Lao) Sole, having had a representative office in the country since 2001. The fully-owned company will enable DB Schenker to expand its service offerings and operational capabilities and becompetitively priced.

In the first phase of its planned investment, DB Schenker has invested in a 3,000 square meter Logistics facility in Vientiane, the capital, to service customers in industries such as telecommunications, consumer goods and garments. DB Schenker is also putting in place a comprehensive human resource development program to increase the knowledge and capabilities of its logistics professionals locally.

Victor Lim, DB Schenker’s managing director for Thailand, Myanmar and Laos said: “With Laos holding a key geographical position and sharing its borders with some of the most important economies in the region, it is imperative that we grow our international trucking services to let our customers have the choice of using the most cost effective mode of transport for their goods.”
