Delta cans Dubai flights

[ October 28, 2015   //   ]

US carrier Delta has blamed “subsidised state-owned airlines” in the Gulf for its decision to axe its Atlanta-Dubai service from 11 February next year. Delta, American and United have, through the Partnership for Open and Fair Skies asked the US government to open consultations with Qatar and the UAE to address the issue of $42 billion in government subsidies given to the Gulf carriers, which it says violates Open Skies agreements. The 777 aircraft used to operate the Dubai route will be redeployed to transatlantic markets “where it can compete on a level playing field that’s not distorted by subsidized state-owned airlines,” says Delta.
