DFDS gained approval for its acquisition of 100% of the share capital of Dutch abnormal load transport company Alphatrans from the German competition authority on 3 January. It follows the agreement signed in mid-November with owner, Martin Bos, who will continue to manage the business. Alphatrans specialises in the transport of long, wide, high and heavy loads and has 197 employees and a fleet of 720 trailers and 125 trucks. It is also one of the largest flatbed trailer operators serving mainland Europe, the UK and Ireland.
